Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) systems: A complete platform of disposable beating heart products for minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Chase has been manufacturing and marketing innovative beating heart products for over 11 years. We sell both mechanical and vacuum stabilization products with unique features, including built-in occluder clips and hands-free (and hand-held) blower mister systems. Our rotating footpads allow surgeons to thin out epicardial fat, providing easy access to coronary arteries. We also provide taper-tip and bulb-tip shunts to maintain perfusion during each anastomosis and have added an apical positioning device allowing access to posterior branches of the coronary arteries. We continue to invest in our beating heart products to provide the latest technology and to make it a cost-effective procedure for the hospital. More about coronary artery bypass graft procedures: During standard coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures (also called on-pump procedures), a patient is placed on a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass). Patients placed on cardiopulmonary bypass often experience cognitive changes such as memory loss and the inability to concentrate for periods of time. These changes are believed to be short-term in nature, but long term effects are not known with certainty. Off-pump procedures are often classified as a minimally invasive cardiac surgery, or MICS because they do not involve cardiopulmonary bypass. For many reasons, a patient may be a good candidate for one type of procedure or the other, but off-pump procedures offer many potential benefits. The intent of off-pump bypass surgery is to decrease morbidity, such as stroke, renal failure and the requirement for blood transfusions. Also, off-pump procedures do not require the use of an aortic cross clamp which can dislodge emboli or plaque. If that occurs, small particles of plaque travel through the arteries and increase the risk of stroke. We understand the challenges that cardiac surgeons face. And we provide the most current tools on the market to support the cardiac experts who perform off-pump procedures.
